Description

U.S. AirForce uniform worn by John A. Farnsworth, Berkeley, CA. Uniform consists of blue, wool V-neck sweater, slacks, white/light blue, short-sleeve shirt, tie, web belt, bars and misc. insignia. Farnsworth enlisted from UC Berkeley CA in 1941, served in both the AirForce and Army, 96th Infantry, WW II (Philippines and Okinawa) and 25th Infantry, Korean War. He retired in 1964, Intelligence School (Army), Fort Halliburg, MD, Military District of Washington. He received the Silver Star and Bronze Star Medal for outstanding brave deeds on the battlefield, WW II, in a ceremony by Major General James L. Bradley, commander of the 96th Division. A photo of John Farnsworth in uniform and a copy of a newspaper article are in the People file in the vertical files on first floor of museum. Archives # 2004.006.0003 & 2004.006.0004
