Description

Large, men's, bright gold cotton gloves. The gloves were worn by Joseph Charles ( "Mr. Charles") as he waved to cars at the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Way & Oregon St. He usually was at his post at the morning commute time from around 1962 to 1992 and was known as Berkeley's "Waving Man". He always had a smile and a Have a Good Day attitude. He passed away in 2002. There is a mural honoring him at MLK Way and Ashby Ave.
