Description

Tiny, colored glass beads strung on a thread and with a piece of cloth twine tied to it, like a necklace. Beads were originally sewn on a purse. Beads are in an envelope with a handwritten note on the outside: "These beads belonged to Grandma Carr. She brought them to Iowa from Ohio when she came in 1853. They were originally on a purse which she had bought at a Blind Asylum in Columbus Ohio. The beads were woven into flowers and used as a border around the bag. The purse was entirely made of beads." Blues, white, amber. See also Shafer Family (paper) Collection in upstairs archives. See also a brief Family History in Object ID # 1995.002.001.
