Round metal and paper campaign button: "Bates". Yellow with orange letters. Tom Bates (b: 1938) was Berkeley mayor for 4 terms (2002-06, 2006-08, 2008-12, 2012-16), served 20 yrs as member of State Assembly (2 terms:12th & 14th district, 1976-96), taught at U.C. Berkeley, was member of Alameda Co. Board of Supervisors and previously owned a property management and insurance co. (Bates and Associates). Married (second marriage) to Loni Hancock (Berkeley City Council 1971-79, Berkeley Mayor 1986-94, Calif. State Senate & Assembly 2002-16).
