Rectangular, sturdy dark wood trunk. Trunk is nailed together and has metal hinges. Written in black on front: F. T. Matsui, Family 110-14, 1538 Parker St., Berkeley Calif. On back: F.T. Matsui, Central Utah. (Also may have a small piece of paper stapled on one end, typewritten: "Frank Matsui, Family No. 11-014, Central Utah, War Relocation Authority". Can't access to see, but this label was on trunk #1 and they appear to be identical....see 1978.002.333). Used by Frank Matsui and family when they (Japanese) were sent to detention camps during WWII. He originally assembled in Santa Anita (southern Calif.) and was sent to Tule Lake 10/29/42. The family was relocated to Utah/Topaz in 9/28/43. Frank was released in 5/1/44 to work nearby while his family stayed at Topaz. In 1945 they were able to leave and moved to Berkeley.Lexicon
