Wooden Shogi game tiles. Set of 41 hand carved wooden tiles made in a Japanese internment camp during WWII. Japanese characters on each. See also 2017.015.006 Shogi Game Board. The game was used after the war by evacuees who temporarily stayed at a house at 1813 University Avenue in Berkeley. Pieces have specific role (as in chess).
