17 1/2 gallon container for water from the Office of Civil Defense. Black metal drum is 22 inches high and 16 inches in diameter, with a lid that can be popped off. Lid is severely rusted and has seven pinholes at time of cataloguing. Body and base of drum are slightly rusted and drum has large dent in front. Printed in Yellow: "Survival Supplies Furnished by Office of Civil Defense, Department of Defense, Drinking Water 17 1/2 Gallons." Continues with instructions to fill, to dispense, and to use as a commode.
