Plasma processed at Cutter Laboratories is subjected to ultraviolet light to eliminate the possibility of any virus being present in the plasma. Cutter processes large quantities of whole blood into plasma for military use. Two highly trained technicians operate the irradiation machines. The liquid plasma flows from one end of the tube to the other, passing through the ultra-violet light.
