"By the 1940s, the Fischel Block on the corner of University and Shattuck was gone, and in its place stood Berkeley’s first drive-in barbecue, the Cameo, housed in a horseshoe-shaped concrete-and-steel building with a glass façade. In 1950, the Cameo moved to the northeast corner of Shattuck and Channing Way." (BAHA)
