Note

Cedar ballot box. Smith's Parish, mid-1800's. In 1881, there were only 820 registered voters in Bermuda. There were men, aged 21 or older, who had property rated at £60 or more. Since each parish returned four Members of Parliament, the qualified voter could plump for one name or vote for up to four candidates.
