Historical Note

Note

Lidded faience bowls, similar to these on display, were made in Rouen through the second half of the 18th century. Fragments of the same ware have been found in Revolutionary War contexts in the United States of America and also in Queen Marie-Antoinette’s mini-palace at Versailles.
