Note
According to English Antique Dealer R.J. Wigington of “Arbour Antiques” (where the cannons were purchased), this particular identical pair of cannons are from the same ship, originally mounted and utilized by a French Man-O-War. This pair were truly working cannons. Each bronze cannon weights 168 lbs. The original carriages have long since rotted and eroded away and have been replaced approximately three times. Painstakingly replicated by E&G Carpentry, the Bermuda cedar carriages are in exact detail to historical records provided; the cedar itself being extracted from an old Bermuda home well over two hundred years old. Every cast iron component (carriage bolts, ring bolts, under carriage brackets) have also been replaced, custom tooled in bronze or brass by hand to match the original cast iron fittings.
