General Notes

Note

EXHIBIT TEXT Products of Spain Jars like these were made primarily as containers for olives and olive oil, and secondarily for water. Their distinctively different shapes had long been thought typical of styles from the 16th to the 19th centuries, but after being found together on the 1639 wreck of the Viga, all that can be said with certainty is that they are Spanish or Spanish-American.
