Bronson Hartley grew up on Bermuda. He was educated at Kirmeyer, NY, Warwick Academy, Bermuda, Upper Canada College and the American School of Paris. He was a child protégé of Dr. William Beebe, who was the director of marine research for the National Geographic and New York Zoological Societies. In 1948, Hartley turned his avocation into his vocation by taking tourists for a walk undersea in Bermuda and the Bahamas using the diving helmet. He has been taking movies, portraits and videos undersea for many years. His photography participated in the Venice Film Festival and won second prize with the Bermuda Society of Arts.
