Sometimes weird objects in my studio catch my eye one cannot call art, yet something kept me from throwing them away as useless junk, like this piece of paper taped to a countertop and a glass sheet over it. This served as an inking slab for times when I rolled a roller across it during a printing session. The glass cracked, but it was still serviceable, but the crack allowed ink and oil to seep through - leaving a long, blurry line its length and around the edges. So enamored with the results, I kept it after replacing the glass and putting a new sheet of white paper under it. Later, I printed an etched plate in the center. The lines were stamped in soft ground with a handstamp that says PRINTMAKING IS DEAD - an in-joke.
