Artistamp Clock: Number one of three Artistamp clocks, this is the original proof of concept. It is unique in that it has the wood carving used to print the name of Emeralda. The two made after this were for a commemorative event for Anne Focke which included an art event, and artists were asked to donate works in support of Anne's contributions to Seattle's art scene. One of the two who bought the clocks was Dan Mayer, a longtime friend of Anne's.

Use

In September of 2005, artists were invited to create artist's clocks for a fundraiser auction in honor of Anne Focke - a longtime Seattle arts activist. I created two for the auction and this one to keep. Mine is unique because it includes a woodcut block. I made the prior year as part of my "Homage to Jake" print and a woodcut for my Baren.org print exchange. I attached my CD/ROM, "Stamps 'N Stories" to the back. About the Artist's Clock: This artist, like many other artists, likes to make artist's stamps - known in the world of stamp collecting as "cinderella." These are non-governmental, non postage stamps that individuals make as miniature works of art, commemoratives, or as a hobby. Sometimes, corporations and institutions will issue cinderella. In this artist's case, he has made artist's stamps since the late 1960s. On this clock you see examples from a series he made that's based on his own self-made retrospective from 2000-2003. He made an artist's stamp from a work selected from each year of his 40-year career. His technique is simple: He makes a digital snapshot of the artwork and composes a stamp with the image using computer software. He sends it to Kinko's to have it made into a laser print. He then cuts the sheet of stamps with scissors. He doesn't have a perforator, so he "fakes" the perforations.
