Three metal buttons. a = The largest of the three buttons with the loop which would be sewn on clothing broken off. b = A deteriorated metal button that still has its loop attached on the backside. c = Button with USA visible on the top.

Context

Sources selling antique buttons as well as the Art Museum of Colonial Williamsburg, (https://www.amrevmuseum.org/virtualexhibits/among-his-troops/pages/continental-army-buttons) identify this as a button from the uniform of a Continental Army soldier during the Revolutionary War.
