Silver coin with a crest and crown on one side. On the outside edge is the following: Hispan et Ind. R.M.F.M.

Context

It is a Spanish half real that circulated in the Spanish colonies in the Americans and was accepted as currency in the British colonies in the period before the United States was established and began minting its own coins. The half real was made from 1772 to 1825.
