Framed photo of the Burkholder family, who lived here during the 19th century. Martin Burkholder, who built the house in 1854, died before the Civil War. His widow, Rebecca, is pictured center-left. Photo taken in 1890s.
The entire Burkholder family including cousins etc. as far back as 1884 the birth of Oliver A. Burkholder, my father, and the generation before which was the descendants of Martin Burkholder, not in the picture, a Bishop of the Mennonite Church, deceased. Also Caleb Burkholder, also deceased, killed by horses at the age of 32.
