In 1776, just prior to the battle of Germantown, PA, Christoph Saur printed 3000 copies of the 3rd edition of a German-language Bible. Most were detroyed by British soldiers who used the pages as gun wad for their rifles, giving this edition the nickname of the "Gun Wad Bible."Collection
