This table belonged to my Great Grandmother Eliza (Good) Shirey (1847-1924), Daughter of Samuel Good of Goods Mill, VA. My remembrances of the table - Eliza's daughter, Addie F. Shirey Meyerhoeffer (my grandmother) always had this table in her dining room near the family desk. Grandmother's house was two houses put together- the front one was logs. Her kitchen was a good size and included a wood cook stove, a kitchen cabinet (sort of Hoosier style) made for my grandparents in 1903, a drop leaf table and a kitchen sink with a hand pump for water. And there was no room for this table in the kitchen. The kitchen had four doors, one going to the dining room, one through a pantry to a back porch, one to a side porch and one to steps leading to the upstairs. Grandmother always kept her electric mixer on this table and when she had a family meal - I well remember Grandmother carrying her electric mixer to the kitchen to mash the best potatoes in Goods Mill!Cataloged By
