The 1939 Century Thunderbolt Chickie IV is a notable classic boat. Chickie IV is one of 5 Century Thunderbolts known to exist today. It is said to be the only one that was stained and varnished sides as the others were painted black. Produced by Century Boats, the Thunderbolt model is recognized for its low production numbers and high desirability among collectors. They manufactured from 1930 to 1937, making the 1939 model a rare find. The Thunderbolt was designed for speed and agility on the water, often referred to as a "lake terrorist" due to its performance capabilities. Milford Below of IL owned and raced Chickie IV. Below’s had a number of boats named Chickie in the E Class. The boat represents a significant era in American boating history, showcasing the craftsmanship and engineering of the time
