Oil painting on canvas depicts view from the window of Frederic Clay Bartlett's art studio on Boyles Street in Beverly, MA. There is a chair in the foreground and a sign can be seen out the window which reads "Beverly." The studio, which Evelyn Fortune Bartlett donated to the Beverly Historical Society, is now a private residence. The current owners have lovingly restored the historic building. Top of a tan sign with black lettering can be seen at bottom of window: BEVERL. Penciled on back of canvas: V.
