Oil painting on canvas of ruins of a city with wagon. This is one of several paintings Frederic Clay Bartlett did of bombed out ruins. Brick building on left hand side, fire in the background. At object right lower corner is the partially standing red brick facade of a house with rectangular opening in front. There are blue and yellow steps in front with a seated person with pink clothes on steps. Interior is brown with window showing orange flame outside. In doorway stands a figure with gray clothing with his hands on the back of a seated figure bending over. This figure wears green and yellow, has red hair. All figures face front.
Varnished. On wooden stretcher. Written on canvas back: V//. Vertical orientation.
