FIRST STEPS IN LIFE
London Pub 2nd Jan 1809 at R. Ackermann's Repository of Art 101 Strand
Impervious Man! behold thy state;
How feebly dos't thou move!
Ad if old age should be thy fate,
What weakness must thou prove!
Then be not van, but humbly tread --
Through mingled joy and strife --
Between the Living and the Dead;
To Heaven's eternal Life.
