THE DARLING ASLEEP London Pub. 1st May 1809 at R. Ackermann's Repository of Art 101 Strand Sleep on sweet babe in quiet sleep Thy Mother guards her child from harm Affection shall its vigil keep And fondly hush each rude alarm While I behold my darling joy In Cherub Innocence appear Thy gentle breathings of my boy Are Music to his Mother's ear
