Boulder City hotels, motels, and auto courts: Boulder Dam Hotel, January 15, 1940 [message: “Sunday, Jan. 15, 1940: We had dinner yesterday at Boulder Dam Hotel. It is a beautiful little city, so clean and grass is green the year round. And nice balmy weather too. Temperature about 72 degrees but nights are cold. Boulder Dam is the greatest engineering feat of all times. It is the highest dam in the world 727 feet high, reservoir 115 miles long and covers 227 square miles and cost only $165,000,000. We saw flowers blooming in the desert. Tomorrow, we leave for Death Valley where we will spend one night and then go on to LA. Love, Cousin Cathleen and Ruth."Lexicon
