The Gene and Cliff Segerblom Collection documents the lives and careers of one of Nevada’s most influential creative teams. The collection reflects their shared commitment to preserving the history, culture, landscapes, and recreational heritage of Nevada and the American Southwest.
Cliff Segerblom was a celebrated watercolor artist, photographer, and visual historian known for documenting Nevada’s rural communities, historic architecture, and desert landscapes. His career included photography during the construction of Boulder (Hoover) Dam, contributions to national publications, and the founding of the Photography Department at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
Gene Segerblom was a writer, editor, researcher, a Boulder City Council member, and a four-term Nevada Assemblywoman representing District 22.
She collaborated closely with Cliff on books, magazine articles, travel guides, and feature stories. Together, they introduced readers nationwide to the people, places, and history of Nevada through publications such as Sunset Magazine, Popular Mechanics and Family Circle, as well as local publications such as Las Vegas Review Journal, Las Vegas Sun and Boulder City News.
The collection contains manuscripts, photographs, artwork, publications, and research files, as well as a personal collection of Cliff’s cameras and equipment. Thus providing a valuable resource for the study of Nevada history, journalism, art, and cultural preservation.
