Herod was named king in 40 BC he’s known as the great because of his building works. He expanded the temple complex in Jerusalem. He expanded Ceasarea and built Masada. He wasn’t a great person, he executed his wife Mariamne and his sons Alexander and Aristobulus. He also didn’t really care for his people
