Train route guide titled "Shasta Route Maps and Description, Portland-San Francisco," published December 1, 1946 for Southern Pacific rail services. The guide is 4" x 9" when folded, paper. The front and back of the guide when folded has green illustrations of a fish and a fisherman, a Southern Pacific train, farm scenery with two grain silos and a tractor, two onlookers overlooking a dam, three flowers with a cityscape in the background, and the Golden Gate Bridge, all within their own diamond-shaped windows. The caption "S.P The friendly Southern Pacific" is printed at the bottom.
The guide contains maps and accompanying information about rail routes between Portland and San Francisco. Types of information include descriptions of geographic landmarks and destinations along the route. The information was meant to keep train passengers entertained and interested during their train trips.Collection
