"The Burlington...and a Century of Progress," a history booklet of the Chicago, Burlington, and Quincy Railroad that was part of the commemoration of Chicago's centennial year, 1933. The booklet was published for the "A Century of Progress Exposition," an event that celebrated the centennial year of the city.
The booklet is 5.5" x 8.5," paper, with staple binding. The inside cover also titles it as "Souvenir of the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad and Associated Lines." The cover has a picture of a row of locomotive engines facing the viewer, along with a picture of a train from the side near the top. The title is in all red, continuing onto the back cover. The "Burlington Route" logo, in a red bordered box, is in the lower right corner. The back cover has a picture of a skyscraper from Chicago, a picture of what appears to be a nineteenth century fort at the top, and the "Burlington Route" logo in the lower left corner.
The contents of the booklet detail the history of the Chicago, Burlington, and Quincy Railroad, and how it related to the history of Chicago itself. The history was specifically published for the event of Chicago's centennial year, and corresponds with two exhibits set up by the railroad company at the "Century of Progress Exposition."Collection
