A 30 page booklet on the history of the Union Pacific Railroad, circa 1960. The book is 5" x 8.25," paper, staple binding. The cover has an illustration of a Union Pacific train traveling down tracks in a rocky landscape, with images of cowboys, steam locomotives, stagecoaches, buffalo, and Native Americans above the train. The red, white, and blue Union Pacific Railroad shield logo is at the top of the cover, with a yellow rail spike on the right of the cover. The title "A Brief history" is at the bottom in red lettering. The reverse side has an advertisement for "automated rail way" with Union Pacific, showing a house on a flat bed rail car.
The book was published by the Colonial Press for Union Pacific Railroad, to serve as promotional material for customers and rail passengers. It outlines Union Pacific Railroad's history from the 1860s to the 1950s.
