The record was published by Train Master Records, Manitou Springs, Colorado. The jacket is 12" x 12," with a color photograph image of a small steam train in high country with a town in the background on the front. The caption "Steam Railroading in the Colorado Rockies" is below the title. The reverse side of the jacket has a description of the record contents, as well as a list of train recordings by side and cut. It also lists all volumes in the record series; the record is one of seven volumes.
The record itself has a 1970 recording of three rare steam locomotives that ran along narrow gauge track near Cripple Creek, as part of the Midland Terminal Railroad (owned by the Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe Railroad). The line served mining interests in the area until most of the track was taken out in 1949; in the 1960s, remaining track was bought to serve tourists. Types of sounds recorded include train whistles, locomotive engine starting, and other sounds. It also includes lectures given by train engineers. The length is 25 minutes 38 seconds.Collection
