"Southwest Passage: A Colorado Spectacular" - Brochure for Gray Line Bus TripEntry/Object ID
x.732Scope and Content
A single-fold brochure for Gray Line bus and railroad tour trips of the Southwest Passage area of Colorado, circa 1950s. The brochure is 4" x 9" on yellow textured paper, printed with red and black ink. The front has photos of Black Canyon, Grand Imperial Hotel, and Mesa Verde Park, with captions naming each picture, and the title "Southwest Passage: A Colorado Spectacular" at the top.
The tours advertised in the brochure were 3 1/2 day long tourist trips which would stop overnight at different attractions. Tourists would travel in a loop, starting in Colorado Springs and going to Mesa Verde before turning back. The interior of the brochure includes a map of the route, which also designates railroad tracks; a picture at the bottom of the pages of a Rio Grande train suggests that the tour may have included a train ride with the Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad. Attractions along the route included: Canon City, Salida, Gunnison, Black Canon, Montrose, Ouray, Silverton and the Grand Imperial Hotel, Mesa Verde National Park, Durango, Pagosa Springs, Del Norte, and Saguache. The brochure includes information about trip fares, as well as descriptions of certain spots on the tour.Collection
