Colorado and Southern Railway Rules Governing Watch Inspection
Entry/Object ID
1975.5.1v
Scope and Content
Rules governing watch inspection for employees of the Colorado and Southern Railway Company, August 18, 1971. The rules include Notice No. 51 for the Denver U.D. and Wendover Subdivision and No. 45 for the Denver U.D. and Texline Subdivision across two 8.5" x 11" pages, sent out by Superintendent J.L Kincaid.
The rules were posted at the Broomfield Train Depot, and have a "Post" stamp designating it be posted for employees in the upper right corner of the first page. The rules all specify how watches should be inspected, how they were to be constructed, how often they should be oiled or have battery changes, how to have them repaired, and what paperwork was required for a given watch. Making sure watches were in good working order would have been an important, on-the-job requirement for a station agent.
