Scope and Content

Color, 3.5" x 5.5" postcard depicting a diesel locomotive pulling a train in a mountain valley landscape alongside a river, 1956. The train is the "California Zephyr," which ran to destinations between Chicago and San Francisco daily, including Denver. The reverse side has a printed description of the front image, and a postage stamp of Thomas Jefferson. The correspondence portion is filled out for a Mrs. K.E. Smith, 25 E. 9th Ave., Denver, Colorado. The message is from the recipient's mother, who at the time was taking a train trip.
