Color, 3.5" x 5.5" postcard depicting a red and white diesel train crossing a bridge in a wintery, mountain landscape, 1964. The train in the picture is the California Zephyr crossing the Sierra Nevada Range near the headwaters of Feather River, on a trip between Chicago and San Francisco. The Zephyr traveled to many destinations, including Denver, between California and Missouri.
The reverse side has a printed description of the front picture, a date stamp from the post office at Grand Junction, and a message written to a Mrs. Winfred Moore of Sidney, Iowa from her nephew, Theodore, concerning his trip to San Francisco by train. A George Washington postage stamp is used. "Burlington - Rio Grande - Western Pacific" is printed at the bottom.Collection
