Scope and Content

A posted notice printed by the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad Company titled "The Coach Situation," December 12, 1945. The sign is 12.25" x 17" on card board. The sign informed passengers of the Burlington Route that the return of armed forces from World War II would disrupt normal service, and apologized for inconvenience. Approximately one-half of all main line coaches were apparently used for military transport exclusively, according to the notice. The message was given by Passenger Traffic Manager A. Cotsworth, Jr., listed at the bottom of the posting. The Burlington Route logo is also featured in the lower left corner.
