A postcard depicting travel through the American Northwest by train, circa 1910. The postcard is color, 3.5" x 5.5". The image is an illusrration, originally a painting or drawing. It depicts a steam locomotive train with the number "214" shown on the front of the engine and on the side of one of its cars, moving toward the viewer. Another set of train tracks is visible to the right of the train, parallel to the train's set of tracks. Several types of trees surround the train, with bald, snow-capped mountains in the background. The following text is printed in the upper left corner: "428. Traveling through the Snow-Capped Mountains of the Northwest." The postcard may have originally been printed as part of a numbered set.
The reverse side has no handwriting. Space on the left side is labeled for writing messages, with the right designated for address and postage. On the left edge, printed text reveals the publisher as J.L. Robbins Co. out of Spokane, Washington. A logo with overlapping "J," "L," "R", and "Co." lettering for the publisher is in the lower left corner. Numbering "A-8462" is visible in small print at the top center.Collection
