Audiotape cassette with recording of an oral history interview with Dorothy Rose Hulstrom Elliott, February 8, 1996. The interviewer was Eleanor McKinley. Elliott begins the interview by discussing her birth in Longmont, Colorado in 1927, and her life on a farm in Broomfield. She then discusses her family history going back to her grandparents on the Hulstrom side, originally from Sweden, recalling holidays, cooking, and funerals pertaining to the Hulstroms. Other subjects include her childhood growing up in a tar paper shack, her parents, birthdays, family beliefs, home chores, and later attending Barnes Business School. In the last half of the interview, Elliott discusses starting her own family after marrying Hixon Elliott in 1951 and moving to the "Honey House." She also talks about her retarded child, Conner, for whom she and other families opened a special school for in Broomfield. She also describes her involvement with the Bal Swan Children's Center, the Broomfield Foundation for Retarded Children, her Methodist Church, and the Crescent Grange.
