Description

The person who donated this says its the 1965 Broomfield Days parade but it upon farther search it could possibly be 1963 1965(1964) - The first thing you see is an old Sinclair gas station - There is sea of people waiting for the parade to start, one of the people in the crowd is a man in a military outfit his back is turned to the camera. - The camera pans over to the old Empire savings bank. The Bank's sign says that it is 40 degrees out. - Police cars and Police motorcycle lead the parade. - After the Police men we see soldiers march down midway carrying flags, one flag is the US flag. - After the vehicles and the soldiers there is a horse drawn stage coach. It is mainly brown with gold color accents, the top says "Switzerland Trail Stage Liner". Hanging on the side of the Stage coach is a white sign that says "Broomfield City Council". - Next is a two horse pulled wagon full of people - Both horses are brown - The wagon is also Brown with gold accents - The wagon is full of clowns - There is a little boy with long sleeves riding his bike. - The next group is the Broomfield Cheer group carrying in the sign followed by the Dance team and the Marching Band. - There are two young men carrying a banner that says "Mr. Broomfield" followed by a red convertible - The dapper looking man sitting in the back of the Convertible is believed to Ken Hoyle based on the link provided - Mr. Broomfield wears 3 piece suit with a tall top hat. - There is a red antique automobile leading a pack of dark colored antique automobiles. - On the front of the automobiles are women sitting on the hoods, all of them are in dresses. - one of the antique automobiles is an old farming automobile that is holding bails of hay. - There is an orange convertible. Hanging on it's side is a sign that reads "Chris Johnson Miss Broomfield" - The lady sitting in the convertible wears a short red dress with a white sweater. - There is a another orange convertible. It also has a white sign that reads "MARIE COX Runner up". - The lady in the back of the convertible is wearing a teal dress that goes to her knees with a large coat over it. - There appears to be a presidential float honoring the late president John Fitzgerald Kennedy (JFK). He passed in 1963, which is what lead us to believe that this parade was in 1964. - There is a podium with a mannequin that is positioned to look like JFK is addressing the people - The float appears to be made out of flowers except the mannequin and the podium. - On the podium is the presidential seal. - Next up is the Thornton High School carried by the cheer team followed by the Marching Band. - There is a little blue convertible the signs on the side of the convertible reads "Miss LAFAYETTE". - The lady sitting in the back of the convertible is wearing a tight black dress with a silk sash - Following her is a group of men and women riding horses while carrying flags and a sign. - The front row is carrying the US flag and the Colorado flag - The third row is carrying the 4H flags and the others carry different flags and signs that are unfortunately unreadable. - There is a light blue convertible covered in Green and White ribbons. - The convertible is full of little girls who are believed to be Girl Scouts. - The girls are all wearing the same outfit which consist of a white collar shirt, a blue tie and hunter green skirts. - There is an antiques automobile it has red and blue ribbons. - On the wheels it says: - Front wheel: "Clean?" - Back wheel: "You Bet!" - The back says: "Gips coin-op Air wash" - Jets fly over Broomfield - There is a marching group wearing gold, red, and black - There is a large group of kids driving toy antique looking automobiles - There is a hay truck driving pass full of Can-Can girls. - The Can-Can Girls are wearing frilly skirts that are light blue . white and pink clothes. - There is a sign on the side of the truck that reads: "The Lafayette Belle" - Next there is a white convertible carrying a lady. The sign on the side of the the care is unfortunately unreadable/ - There is a group of women riding horses for 4H. - Next is a truck covered in flowers with a mannequin of a little boy on it drives by. - The mannequin of the little boy is sitting in a chair with fake rocks surrounding him. - a tractor pulling a trailer that is designed to look like a jail drives by. - The jail is full of people while the trailer is being chased by people dressed as old fashion police officers chase after it. - A horse with black tassels rears up with a person in all up. you cannot see the the face of the people because they are covered by a sheet or veil. - A truck pulling a trailer has a tipi with people dressed like Native Americans drive by - The last thing you see of this parade is a small donkey driven buggy.
