Scope and Content

Meeting minute book of Broomfield Reservoir and Ditch Company, 1921-1955. The book is 8.5" x 14" with a black, textured hard cover and brad binding reinforced with red tape. Gold-colored lettering stating "Records of Minutes" can be seen on the front. The physical book was commercially made by The W.H. Kistler Stationary Co. in Denver, Colorado. Contents include: the Company's articles of incorporation; Company by-laws; typed stockholder meeting minutes; typed board of director meeting minutes; sample stock certificates; and director resignation letters. The minutes detail decisions made each year since the Company's founding in 1921 by board of directors Adolph F. Zang, Charles Patterson, and Minnie E. Zang at the Company's Denver office at the American Bank and Trust Company Building. Adolph F. served as president, Charles Patterson as vice president, and Minnie E. as secretary and treasurer. The company consolidated Broomfield Reservoir, The Railway Reservoir, A.J. Zang Number 4, and A. Nissen & Company's Reservoir Number 6 to provide irrigation to Broomfield as a not-for-profit company using assets of the Adolph J. Zang Investment Company. The original board did not resign until 1947. By 1955, the Company's interests were all sold to the Turnpike Land Company in order to develop the Broomfield Heights community.

Provenance

Notes

Custodial History: This book and its contents are part of a larger group of records originally owned by Bob Ide, who donated them to the Broomfield Depot Museum in 2012 (see accession 2012.7). He obtained the records from his employer, Transamerica Development Company, in the 1970s after he worked selling many of their assets in the Broomfield area. Transamerica had acquired the documents from Turnpike Land Company in 1964, which itself had previously acquired the records of Broomfield Reservoir and Ditch Company in 1955; Broomfield Reservoir and Ditch was founded in 1921 by the Zang family.
