2012.7.7Description
A date ink stamp originally used by Robert Ide, an employee of Transamerica Development Company, likely used between 1966 to 1971. The stamp is 1.5" (w) x 2.25" (l) x 5.5" (h) when standing upright. It is an Eagle Zephyr No. 71 1/2 stamp, with three adjustable rubber belts for year, day, and month. The belts are adjusted with four jagged metal wheels, all within a metal frame with a black, polished wood handle. Engravings from the manufacturer state "EagleZephyr NO. 71 1/2" on the handle, and "Eagle Zephyr" and "Made in USA" on the frame.
Robert Ide worked for Transamerica from the late 1960s through the 1970s selling off its land assets throughout Broomfield. Many of the assets came from Turnpike Land Company, which Transamerica acquired in 1964.Collection

All related records and artifacts are part of the same collection pertaining to Broomfield Reservoir and Ditch Company, The Broomfield Company, Turnpike Land Company, and Transamerica Development Company. The assets and/or operations of the former two companies came under the ownership of Turnpike Land Company in 1955. Turnpike dissolved in 1964, with its assets going to Transamerica.Provenance
Notes
This artifact is part of a larger collection originally owned by Robert C. Ide, who donated it to the Broomfield Depot Museum in 2012 (see accession 2012.7). He obtained the records from his employer, Transamerica Development Company, in the 1970s after he worked selling many of their assets in the Broomfield area. Transamerica had also acquired several documents from Turnpike Land Company in 1964, which itself had previously acquired the records of Broomfield Reservoir and Ditch Company and The Broomfield Company in 1955.
