Description

Appears in a photo (ph.1364) of the Honey House taken in 1998 with caption "Nesters from Adobe House 136th and Lowell." There are photos of an adobe farm house in Broomfield in the collection (still unprocessed as of 2022). Now the Broadlands neighborhood. This is a metal nesting box (a) with space for 10 hens to nest at once. Each nest box has a round hole at the back and a wall of either side with 18 holes drilled through the wall. The top row of 5 boxes has a wooden ledge across the back where the chickens could perch or where food and water could be given to the hens. There is a metal trough feeder (b) on this ledge with a wire lid to keep the chickens out of the food but still allow them to eat. Inside of this trough is another style of metal lid with the same function (c). The nesting box measures 33.25" (h) x 57.75" (w) x 18.75" (d). The trough feeder measures 6" (h) x 47" (w) x 6.5" (d) with the wire lid on. The other metal lid measures 3" (h) x 23.5" (w) x 6" (d). Chicken coop. This photo also shows a feeder with handle, which has the number 282 written on it and has its own record.
