Scope and Content

Scrapbook is contained within a string-bound binder with a rough black cover. 49 pages. The cover is accented with rectangular gold borders, and the two sides of the binder are held together by some fraying, braided brown string. The inside of the cover is patterned and white. The photographs and papers included in the scrapbook are glued to brown, thin sheets of paper held in place by the brown string. On the top of the first page, "Optimist Activities 1992" is written in blue ink. Within the scrapbook, there is/are: - flyer advertising the Lawn Mower Safety Clinic (in cooperation with the Broomfield Optimist Club) - photographs of the group's annual Bike Rodeo and Bike Safety Week - newspaper article and 2 pages of photographs of the Broomfield Luncheon Optimists Annual Garage Sale - newspaper clipping with a photograph from the Mamie Doud Eisenhower Public Library book fair - articles, winners, buttons, and 9 pages of photographs from the Broomfield Days Annual Clown Contest - photos of the incoming and outgoing Broomfield Optimist Club presidents, DeVerne Lehman and Joe Butkoviek, respectively - photographs of Charlie and Denise Belton, and the dinner for new members at Bal Swan Children's Center - letters and newspaper clippings about winners of the Optimist Student of the Month competitions - article about the Optimist-sponsored Drug Awareness Assistance Education Program (aka DARE) with pictures of "graduates" from various schools, such as Kohl Elementary, Birch Elementary, and Nativity of Our Lord Catholic school - flyer warning about drinking and driving during New Year's and the Christmas season - pictures and advertisements for the Broomfield Optimist's annual Bike Rodeo - RE/MAX advertisement featuring Mark G. Marone, a member of the Broomfield Luncheon Optimist Club - thank you cards and letters for their help with college funding and organizing the Optimist Junior World Golf Tournament - photos of the Optimists handing out awards and celebrating their 10th anniversary in Broomfield with a cake - information (posters and newspaper articles) about the Broomfield Days parade and Annual Clown Contest - newspaper articles about rain and hail during 1993 Broomfield Days - articles about the officer of the year, Optimist Club meetings, women in Broomfield, local chiropractors collecting donations for FISH, and Optimist speakers - holiday thank you cards gifted to the Optimist Club - photographs of "Respect for Law" event with Broomfield Police - certificates and information about Optimist-sponsored events, such as the Young Aviators model airport contest, the annual piano festival, the Annual Bal Swan Celebrity Sport Classic Barbecue, and Huck Finn and Becky Thatcher Day - invite to the Optimist Annual Awards Banquet - Optimist Club newsletters - Child Safety Award presented to the Broomfield Optimist Club - flyer invitation to the Optimist Installation Banquet - flyer advertising the Free Huck Finn Fishing Derby, glued to the inner back cover of the scrapbook
