This is a white porcelain water pitcher from a washstand set made by Knowles, Taylor & Knowles. The stamped maker's mark on the bottom reads, "K.T. & K. Co. Semi-Vitreous Porcelain." The pitcher has a gold ring painted around the base, 3.5 inches from the top rim, and along the rim. The pitcher has a handle that sticks up from the top of the rim and measures 7" long. There are decorations around the rim and on the handle that stand out in topography. These decorations are also lined in gold paint. There is crazing throughout the pitcher, which has be seen both on the inside and the outside. The pitcher measures 12.5" (h) x 10" (w) x 9" (d).
In DeBolt's Dictionary of American Pottery Marks by Gerald DeBolt on page 72 the mark is dated circa 1900.
There was a handwritten note associated with the pitcher and washbasin that reads, "Information on Bowl + Pitcher/ Received from Grace Baptist/ Church 10/81/ 1900 yr./ KTS/ Good American Co./ Knoles, Taylor/ Made China + Glass/ Founded 1853 to 1920/ East Liverpool, Ohio."Collection
