Description

Black and white photograph print of the Broomfield train depot at its original location near 120th and 287, circa 1970. The print is 8" x 10", silver gelatin with glossy finish. The image shows the depot on the left, with two small structures in front of it; an outhouse is on the right, and a small shed is to the left. A slightly taller building with angular roof and cupola, Jones' Hall, is visible behind the depot. The depot's "Broomfield" sign is clearly visible on its roof, and trees, telephone poles, and a train signal tower are all around the building. In the center of the image, railroad tracks come toward the camera and veer to the lower right corner. Train cars are seen close to the camera, at the right side of the image by grain silos and the grain tower. Other silos and buildings are visible in the background. The reverse side has an inscription in black ink in the upper right corner, "neg #1072 1069." This alludes to corresponding negatives (not yet identified in Museum collections). Another inscription in pencil shows the number "1-55." The number was probably associated with the photograph's original owner.
