Description

Black and white photograph print of the Broomfield train depot by the grain elevator at its original site, circa 1970. The print is 8" x 10", silver gelatin with glossy finish. The image shows the depot on the left with its "Broomfield" sign clearly visible on the roof. Two small structures, a sort of shed and an outhouse, are in front of it, with a tall train signal tower to the right. A luggage cart is by the outhouse, with a round, unidentified object in front of it in the grass. On the right side of the photograph, railroad tracks, the grain elevator, and telephone poles are shown. The elevators have lettering on the side of the building, stating "The Denver Elevators." A railroad crossing can be seen to the right of the elevator. The reverse side has an inscription in black ink in the upper right corner, stating "neg. #1071 1069." These numbers are for corresponding negatives (not yet identified in Museum collections). Another inscription in different black ink has the numbering "1-56." This numbering was probably used by the photograph's original owner.
