Description

Black and white photograph print of an open field in Broomfield with buildings in the background, circa 1970. The print is 8" x 10", silver gelatin with glossy finish. The image appears to be facing West. Grass, wire fencing, and trees are all in the foreground. The background shows several houses and other buildings, as well as faint outlines of mountains in the distance. One of the buildings appears to be grain elevators and silos, which could be the Colorado Milling and Elevator Company elevators South of 120th. The picture may have been photographed from the site of the first train depot in Broomfield that served the Denver Utah & Pacific Railroad in the 1880s, near 120th and Sheridan. The reverse side has the inscription "neg. # 1075 1069." The numbers relate to corresponding negatives (not yet identified in Museum collections). Another inscription reads "1-64." This number was probably used by the photograph's original owner.
