Description

A 35mm color slide of a Conoco gas station at the intersection of 120th and Highway 287, 1979. The station was close to the original site of the Broomfield Train Depot and Denver Grain Elevators. The image shows the station from the front at dusk, with five cars, two self-service gas pumps, and three light posts in its parking area. A large Conoco sign shaped like an upside down triangle with a yellow sign underneath is in front of the station to the right. The yellow sign reads, "Self-Serve Regular" with the price of gas listed as 95 cents per gallon. Another large Conoco sign behind the station has panels for each red letter of "Conoco." The small station building has a glass door and windows in front, with signs advertising Master charge card and Bank Americard. Inscription, in ink, on the front paper border of the slide states, "Gas station at y [intersection] of 120th & 287."
